Technology Make Us More Alone?
By Samuel
In today’s era,
technology has overwhelmed us with many fascinating experiences including
instant reply messages, distant video chatting and even expressing emotions are
also applicable in word messages via emojis. However, even adding the facts
that we can communicate to others in different parts of the world, some people still
question, does technology really bring people together, or does it make us
lonelier than ever? Did technology unite us, or divide us?
In a way, technology is
really making us more alone. A study by the University of Pittsburgh revealed
that perceived social isolation is directly related to the usage of social
media (Willingham, 2017) . When people are to busy with their
smartphones and gadgets, they tend to ignore the people around them thus
leading to their eventual isolation. Even when we are communicating with other
people through technology, we are not communicating to the people who are
physically with us. This is where we start to become “lonely”.
In conclusion,
technology does make communication with people from far distances but at the
same time, in our opinion, isolation due to technology does happen and it all
depends on how the user utilizes or even abuses technology.
Hi guys, I always think that technology does make us more alone. I am not literally said that we are alone because of technology but its can happen when we become addicted towards the technology for instance we can see some people especially teenagers more preferred to stay in home just to play online game and this situation might seem normal but its does give a negative impact towards them.
ReplyDeletehi , i agree that technology make people become more alone. Nowadays, people become can live without any friend around them but they feel insecure to live without a phone. From this context, is becoming a sad trend where people become by pass from each other, they just focus on their own phone, what happen around them become not so important.
ReplyDeletehi ladies and gentlemen. Tq for samuel for highlighting this issue. In my opinion i'm agree that technology can bring us more alone, technology make the far to near and vice versa like samuel say. So this issue should be highlighted due to it brings trouble in future when people are neglect the near but still keep in touch to the far. yeah it's okay to make a relationship still going on even though the long distances and the long times but if you addicted to much on technology how can u aware about the environment, people and the essential thing the REALITY WORLD it is more and more important than something else. If you dont aware about environment, society and people. how can they help you if you are in trouble. yeah thats right only yourself can help yourself. Is it ourselves are strong enough to face it alone without sharing in reality life. For isntance, if you suddenly accident in the road how can technology for instance your friends in social media can help you? all those thing are important so please dont too addicted with technology untill you neglected the time that ALLAH give to you.
ReplyDeleteHey and Assalamualaikum to everyone. I do agree with Samuel that smartphones and gadgets make us feel alone as we pay to much attention to the phones until we do not realizing what happen in our surrounding. Of course that will make us feel isolate from our friends. But if we can control the usage of smartphones and gadgets in our daily activities we will not feel lonely and isolated as we know how to blend with our surrounding. Therefore we must have self control in every single thing that we do in our life, so we have better and happy life.
ReplyDeleteI think all the technology have pros and cons. But i think the reason why people feel loneliness may be they are not able to communicate with "real world person" , and technology help them to communicate through a channel but not face to face communicate. However, it may also cause less human contact of those people.
ReplyDeleteI agree that technology might divide us, but it actually somehow fill the emptiness for some people. Sometimes, people might want to pour their problems out, but not with someone they are close with, just because what they need is a releasing platform, not a close person who may give some comments and feedbacks. Thats one communicating with anonymous strangers through a virtual world (internet) will be their best solution. Therefore, I feel that technology somehow makes people get a sense of belongings.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that technology had made us more alone in terms of physically and mentally. Nowadays, we don't communicate face to face much as the era where smartphones hasn't been born. In terms of mentally, I personally feel that technology will make people feel more empty. Not to mention that this provides a new platform for people to bully (cyberbully) or criticize anywhere and anytime
ReplyDeleteTechnology has many pros and cons, however, I believe in the theory that technology brings us together. But, we must know where our limit line is and do not cross it. Once we cross it, it would be hard to go back.
